The Limerick Hurlers Baseball Club
Welcome to the home page for the Limerick Hurlers Baseball Club, a member of Classic League Baseball.
Hurlers start strong, hope to keep it that way.
The 2009 Classic League Baseball Season is officially underway and the new-look Limerick Hurlers have started the 154-game campaign strong, taking down the Athens Bobkittens twice in a row. First overall pick Barry Bonds has already made his presence known, belting a homer in his first game of the season while new addition Mark McGwire and Yogi Berra both connected for big blasts. Berra hopes to have a much better season then he did last season, his first with Limerick. "Last year I did not make my impact felt and I let the team down. Now I feel like I don't have to be the leader of this team. There is a locker-room full of leaders and they won't let his team fail." The Hurlers have also had much better pitching to start the season, something that has been their downfall in the past. The additions from the draft as well as a couple trades brought in some good arms and have paid dividends already. Last year at this time, the Hurlers were just the opposite of their current record. After finishing up their 3-game set with Athens tomorrow, the Hurlers head to Limerick for their Home Opener, hosting the Kelso Hilanders. Hippo Vaughn will make the first start at Guinness Park with Limerick Mayor Luckey Haskins throwing out the first pitch. Hurlers manager Jimmy Dugan isn't ready to start the playoffs yet though. "We're only two games in. Lot of teams start 2-0. We're one of them. We're not going to go 154-0 so we're gonna fight and claw and scratch all season to make sure we are one of the four teams that do get to go to that second round. Anything less will be failure."
Limerick Hurlers Logo
The Limerick Hurlers Logo is a Bright Green Four Leaf Clover outlined in Dark Green. Each petal of the shamrock has a letter in it. The four letters, "L" "H" "B" and "C" are also in Dark Green.
A Message from the Owner
Last year I wrote a message to the fans letting them know my committment to turning the Limerick Hurlers around. I am going to strive to do that again but I wanted to use this opportunity to put each and every owner on notice that things are going to be different this year. The Hurlers will be a proud franchise one day and that day is near. No more Don Suttons, no more Nig Cuppys, no more Barry Larkins. It is on. I am not going to take anything lying down and I am going to make this team the best one in the CLB. So, be prepared and get ready because 2009 is the year of the Hurlers.
What's Ahead for the Hurlers
2009 Spring Training begins on March 1st.
